Two for one trade deal- Rbass & Kot for MTD

Sign in to disble this ad
Well, I miss my MTD and I would like to get another back in the stable. Looking for a 535 21 fret preferably, ash body, maple neck and board with a walnut top is high on the want list, but will consider other MTD's. There are a few other basses that might pique my interest as well, so feel free to hit me with your offers.

I have two basses here I would like to trade and I know this is a long shot. If anyone is interested in working a deal, let me know.

I have an Undercover Tobias labeled double gigbag that I will include in the deal as well.

closing thread

Rbass specs are:
chestnut top on an alder/maple toneblock body
35" scale 3 pc maple neck w/
macassar ebony 24 fret fingerboard
macassar ebony pickup covers (not currently on the bass but will be included
19 mm spacing at bridge
Hipshot A-style hardware black
bartolini 3 band pre with mid frequency selector
Bart pickups (not sure which ones)
R bass tilt back head stock for that killer low B
flat C-shape neck in the low register to D in high register
3 pc maple neck
satin finish neck and body
black painted ramp between the pickups

This bass is from 2001 and has been played. These pics below are from a previous owner so I hope he doesn't mind that I am using them. I can take other pics for those who are interested. A previous owner applied epoxy to the lower cutout and between the two pickups where your thumb would rest to stop the wood being worn away. I never notice it until I look for it, but it is there and if you want a perfect looking bass, this isn't the one. That said, this thing is a gem and sounds killer. I have clips if you are interested.

Now to the Kot Singlecut Fretless 5'er
Here are the specs.

Closed thread and posted for sale/trade

35" scale
Ash body
Flamed redwood top
Maple neck, ebony fretboard with purpleheart fretlines
3 Bartolini hum canceling single coil pickups
Hipshot "A" bridge and Hipshot Ultralite Tuners
Weight is approx 7.8 pounds
Very thin and fast neck with a low playing profile.

The bass is currently passive with no preamp installed. The controls are vol, vol, vol, passive tone control. There are two switches that were used as a mid frequency selector and a mute switch. Other knobs were for bass, mid and treble (push/pull). If you want the preamp that came with the bass, I will have to order it for you at a price I will split with you which is dirt cheap.

I have audio clips of this bass as well for those interested.

Will also trade the basses separately. Sadowsky, Fbass, Roscoe, Fodera NYC's are all considered. Let me know if you want to do things that way as well.

Ray,

Thanks. I love your basses, but I always have a revolving door of basses. I like to blame it on my A.D.D. Though, I am very hesitant on letting this one go as I have had several cash offers, but I just cannot let it go.

That R bass used to be my main axe for 5 years, it's a great bass - the best definition lowB i've ever owned. strong midrange with a great snap due to the ebony, gives you best of both worlds.

It had Nordies NJ5 when i sold her - did the previous owner swap them?

Yeah, the B is monster. Yes, the precious owner put Barts in. I still have the wood covers though.

Rbass

Hey Chris, I thought I would chime in...I can't believe your selling the Rbass. I changed out the Nordstrand NJ5 pickups to Bartolini X55CBJD - Classic Bass Series - Split Coil, Humcancelling "Classic Bass" CB series bass pickups feature an extended and more resonant frequency range. They have far more "air" and definition at the top without sacrificing lows and low mids. They are cast in epoxy to remove unwanted feedback and microphonics. The Nordstrands for me were alittle deeper and old school, but the Barts are much more "Hi-Fi" sounding. Also, with that Bart preamp you can really get that Mid bark for soloing. That is a great bass, good luck with your sale...Gene.

Great idea to put the X55's back in! They were there in the first place when she was born in Brooklyn in 2001! the X55's give some compression which came really handy when digging in. Also a much better suit to this modern j than the pseudo vintage thing.

FWIW - this bass was so good that it turned me away from a BS5GN.

Back in 2001, it started with the Hazlab (which by the way explains the Fodera-like knob layout). the haz kept failing a lot but the bart pre is a great match

Alright i'll stop my nostalgic nonsense - someone buy this !

Thanks for all of the history of the bass guys. I was not sure what pups were in there at first, but I did assume (yup) that the Haz-Lab was the original pre.

I am a big fan of the Bart pups and pre though. It has such a great smooth sound when wanted and gets really angry and snappy when you want that as well. Very versatile.

Going to go ahead and offer these for sale now.

Asking $1900 for the Rbass and $1400 for the Kot. Feel free to hit me with your offers. Both basses are still for trade as well. Will consider splitting them on a trade deal and might also be able to add some cash for the right MTD.
