Underrated Bass Needs a New Home - FS/FT LB75

Sign in to disble this ad
Carvin LB75 with OHSC $600 OBO + Shipping

Trade Considerations (plus or minus cash as necessary):

Definately Interested in
G&L Tribute L2000/L2500
Peavey USA Cirrus
Peavey USA Millennium
Peavey TL-5
Lakland 44-01/55-01

Send me others to consider as well.

The Good: Plays great, has very low action, good professional setup just done. It is a beautiful transparent red/quilted maple and is very light. It has never been gigged and has a new set of DR Marcus Miller strings.

Looks:9.5/10, finish is perfect, little scratch on bridge.

The Bad: The preamp mid seems to have very little character and does little to alter the sound. The bass and treble seem fine. Not sure if this is just a Carvin thing or the preamp needs replaced/repaired.

Thanks for looking.

Dang... wish I played 5's. You're not gonna find a pro-grade 5-er for a much better price than that. It's pretty, too.

I had that same thing but with an upgraded preamp! I sold on here and have looked for it for a while since. Hey I'm moving to SF in a couple weeks.

Interested in a trade + cash from me for my sig bass?

My band "demands" that I play my LB76P all the time, even though my pre is kaput and I play it in passive mode. They prefer it over my American Deluxe P!

I do actually prefer the sound in passive as well.

Wow, would love to, but that is a little outside my price range.

Wow, that looks funky! Not sure it's my cup of tea.

Can you tell me about the tone? Where does this thing sit compared to P, J, and Music Man basses? I'm a guitarist - had a bass and was even active here a while back - but I probably know less about basses than most folks here. I'm thinking of getting a bass again for home recording (demos mostly, I'll get a pro for most of my records). This is within my range and I'm pretty sure I'm looking for a passive bass...

And gosh is that pretty.

Well, it doesn't really sound like any of them. In active mode it has a slightly modern tone, clear with an exaggerated top end. In passive mode, I can get a tone close to a jazz (with the bridge pickup in single coil mode).

Start telling your bandmates which models of instrument to play and see how quick they tell you to get f'd.
