Here is a 1975-76 Univox Stereo Bass made to copy the Rickenbacker 4001 of the era. This bass was made in the famous Matsumoku factory in Japan, known for their amazing craftsmanship and creating better copies than the originals of that time. This bass is in AMAZING condition for its age, with no chipping or dings of any kind (minor buckle rash, hardly noticeable. see pictures). The white binding has aged into a creamy golden tint, accentuating the beautiful wood of the body. This is a neck through design with dual truss rods, very rare for the copies made in this era.
The pickups have been upgraded to the Seymour Duncan SRB-1 pickups meant for Rickenbacker replacements (a $200 value). I have the original pickups and will include those as well. The electronics have been upgraded to modern Rickenbacker electronics (including the push pull treble pot). It also has working stereo output jacks. The tuning pegs have been upgraded to Wilkinson tuners. I have the original white pickguard along with the new black pickguard on the guitar now. I will include both in the purchase (I also have a black and a mirrored bridge pickup cover piece, both included)
The original hardshell case is included and is very retro looking. It is in good shape except for one switch is finicky. It has a nice yellow interior with a storage area too.
This is seriously my dream bass, but mainly playing in drop D I have a hard time getting my action right with thicker strings. This guitar likes 95's or 100's and standard tuning.
I really hate to see this thing go, but I am asking SOLD paypal'd and shipped. This is the lowest I can justify going, Id rather just hold onto it then let it go for anything less.
Bump for a great bass that used to be mine and a great guy to work with. This bass will make someone very happy.

Oh man...I would love to buy this as I have contracted some Ric gas (but not the Ric price gas). But Im waiting on some money and Im not exactly sure when Ill get it. If it comes in and this is still here Ill be PMing you.
Hmm... I wonder if this would cause disharmony in the family: My wife has a red 4003 real Ric from the mid 70s in about as nice of condition. Biggest problem would be explaining me paying $700 for a copy when she payed only $300 for the real thing! /lol
