This is a Made in Japan Univox Beatle Bass in good shape. I received this bass as a trade from Dan Lutz a few months ago and have used it primarily in my home studio for its unique sound. It has a great set of tapewound strings on it that Dan said came on the bass when he bought it. It also comes with a really nice ProTec Gig Bag that Dan bought for the bass.
The neck plays like a dream, the bass balances well for a violin-type bass, and the frets are in decent shape for its age. The tapewound strings really make this bass and gives it that classic Hofner sound. The bass's binding is in good shape. There are a few nicks and chips around the bass, certainly to be expected for a 40 year old bass. There is also a slight surface crack on the top.

Working order. All knobs and switches do what they were intended to do. There is a broad range of tones you can get out of this thing, even with tapewound strings, because of the sliders.
