PRICE DROP on Unobtanium: Reverend Brad Houser 5

Sign in to disble this ad
This is one of a production run of 79: pretty hard to come by.

The Brad Houser Specs: 5 String, 35 inch scale, two Reverend stacked Jazz pickups, 3-position coi tap for each pickup (parallel, single coil, series), volume for each pickup, master tone control, Hipshot bridge and Hipshot Ultralite tuning keys.

I'm the original owner; I bought it new from Mountain Music in KC. It's been used very little, and aside from light swirling in the p/g from cleaning it's in mint condition. I also have the tuxedo case-which is BH5 specific from the 5L due to the wider neck; it's likewise in super condition.
The color is what Reverend called Faux Mahogany; hard rock maple neck with rosewood fingerboard. Reverend do exceptional necks; the fretwork is stellar, the edges and fret ends being nicely rolled for a great played in feel. She's wearing new SIT stainless rounds. It came with nickels, I prefer the slightly brighter sound of the stainless. I have all the paperwork, case candy, and tools.
The three position coil taps let you go from a nice Jazz single coil, to the progressively bigger sounds of dual parallel, and dual series and are individually selectable for each pickup. Furthermore, individual volume for each pickup lets you effectively blend single and dual coil sounds as well.

Weight=8.6lbs on my digital fish scale

Neck dive = negligible; I use a 3" wide cloth strap. It hangs without diving.
The upper horn goes to ~ 14th position versus standard fender 12th position.

nut width=1.86"
end of f/b width=2.99
string spacing at bridge=19mmWeight=8.6lbs on my digital fish scale

Your cost for one of a run of 79? $1200!!!
PRICE DROP TO $1050
You'll not find another like this one!

I wish I had $1,200 sitting around. My last Rev was a 5L that was quite cool, but I always wanted a Houser!

These BH5's kill. Someone should grab this. I have flats on mine and it's just an amazing sounding instrument.

Never tried flats on mine, but, I know several BH5 owners that dig them that way...
I have Chromes on my 5L, and the SIT stainless rounds on this one.

Yes they do!

Man Chef ... this one is a beaut! ... and you get a Tuxedo case!

With those dual HB's ... it must sound HUGE!

Wish I had the scratch to do some fishing.

Good luck with the sale!

With the the two coil tap'd stacked JJ's, it is indeed a Fish of many colors. The ability to effectively blend single coil with dual paralle/series is really flexible!

Ooooooh. The rarest of the 'fishes. And the top of the line, to boot. These don't come up for sale very often.

HUGE is right. I can't think of a single passive fiver that has a bigger tone than the BH5. It's not for everyone, but it sure does have a massive tone. And the myriad of pickup options makes it fairly versatile for a passive bass.

Best of luck on the sale!

I've droned on about the coil taps a lot already, but!
It's not only dual coil huge, it's also single coil sassy!
And, you can mix and match those at will...

bump for my buddy chef....

I saw this for sale locally the other day and came to TB so that I could send you a pm to tell you about it (being that you are the Reverend aficionado). However, I'm guessing you already know about it........seeing as you are selling it.

Every time I think I've seen all your basses, you pull out something else out of.........hmmmmmmmmmmmmm.
