Upgraded Lakland Skyline 55-01 Spalted Maple (nordy pups, choice of case)
Just picked this one up before Christmas from peteybass, on kinda an impulse buy. We've all done it, I'm just admitting it. I was hoping to get into a band that required a five string, but all my other stuff is OK on fours, and I didn't get into that band (long story). Absolutely nothing wrong with this bass, and it hurts me to sell it so soon. Just trying to get out of this what I have into it.
Listed at $900 FIRM shipped within North America. Will not ship outside of North America, sorry.
Trade interest is confined to Spector Euro 4s (LX or Rebop), other trade ideas will be politely ignored.
previous owner did such a good job listing out the specs, I borrowed them from him:
Lakland Skyline 5501 Deluxe Spalted Maple top on ash body.
Upgraded with Nordstrand Big Splits 5.
and Nordstrand preamp 3Band-5A
Active/passive push/pull pot, adjustable mid frequency push/pull pot.
19mm spacing at the bridge
Nut Width: 1.81"
Weight of the bass on my digital scale is: 9 lbs 3 oz
Buyer can select from one of 2 cases/bags.
1) Roadrunner padded gig bag
2) Generic cordura soft/hard case (similar to what Sadowsky uses as its standard case, although this is not a Sadowsky case)
The only thing I did to the bass was have my tech do a setup and I added two small string tree retainers (shown in pic below). Bass is currently strung with the same D'addario rounds it came to me with.
The bass was mfg in 2012 but shows absolutely no wear other than fingerprints, no dings for sure.

As some of you might be interested in what this pickup/pre combination sounds like, I made some quick recordings (including lots of fingering mistakes, sorry, listen to the tone, not the player!) and posted them to my soundcloud this evening. There are a few different takes with different settings
First, here's a link to a setting that I like best. (favor neck pickup, bit of bass boost, some mids boost, treble cut a bit).

Bump for a great TB'er!!
Hi, what's the weight? Thx
Also, pics of the cases? And how is the neck and action? Thanks.
Weight is listed in the specs.
Case pics maybe later today.
Neck is typical Skyline, which if you don't know is a thin satin finish, very comfy. I disdain fret buzz so I have set the action a little higher than as low as it can go.
Great bass and...
you cannot deal with a better TBer.....
thank you Douglas
Monday blues bump
Great Demo G!!!
Really shows the variability of the bass...
very pretty bass man...considering...
This is a great sounding and playing bass. The upgrades just work perfectly in this Lakland. Warm yet defined tone. If you are a 5 player its a keeper.
I had a similar concept based on the 55-01 in my GAS list a couple of years back, but if I were to do it today, this is exactly how I'd want it done (even down to the big splits).
Wish I could afford this right now...bump.
many thanks, bump
Heading off to NAMM bump
