| | Basses R Loaded! | | Join Date: Jul 2005 Location: Centennial, Colorado | | My old bass. What a beautiful and responsive instrument. Very lightweight with wonderful organic jazz bass tone although when I owned it the pickups were the original Duncan's with exposed magnets.
I always thought it was a "Willie Weeks Prototype" too but I found out later on that apparently the neck on this bass was originally attached to a sunburst body (Per Dan Lakin). He said he couldn't be certain because his record keeping back then wasn't as accurate as it could have been. Regardless this is one totally killer Lakland 5 string!
If it wasn't a 35" scale I'd buy it back in a heartbeat.
They really don't get any nicer than this one folks!

I have owned in excess of fifteen Lakland's since they were first introduced and this one was "by far" my favorite. You rarely see these for sale used and new ones are VERY expensive. Don't miss a chance to pick this one up. You won't be disappointed! |

The first so called Willie Weeks double J bass was not trans white.
I remember playing the bass that Willie Weeks sent back. And I think it was blue. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
