US Lakland 55-JJ

Sign in to disble this ad
Up for sale is my US 55-JJ. Amazing bass but with the other basses in my collection, it is not getting played and I have a chance at a PJ I have wanted for a while. Trans white single piece ash body with rosewood board. Bart pickups with a bartolini tc-3 pre amp booster. It also comes with a set of the other pickups Lakland offered in the dual J's. I think they are SD's. Ships in a Lakland hardshell case and I will even throw in a matching white Lakland strap! Weighs is right around 8 lbs using the bathroom scale method.

$2000.00 shipped CONUS

Thanks bro! The rumor is that this bass was built for and owned by Will Weeks. Leo at Lakland said it was a very strong possibility but could not definitively confirm or deny the rumor.

My old bass. What a beautiful and responsive instrument. Very lightweight with wonderful organic jazz bass tone although when I owned it the pickups were the original Duncan's with exposed magnets.

I always thought it was a "Willie Weeks Prototype" too but I found out later on that apparently the neck on this bass was originally attached to a sunburst body (Per Dan Lakin). He said he couldn't be certain because his record keeping back then wasn't as accurate as it could have been. Regardless this is one totally killer Lakland 5 string!

If it wasn't a 35" scale I'd buy it back in a heartbeat.

They really don't get any nicer than this one folks!

I really can't say enough about this bass. I have owned in excess of fifteen Lakland's since they were first introduced and this one was "by far" my favorite. You rarely see these for sale used and new ones are VERY expensive. Don't miss a chance to pick this one up. You won't be disappointed!

Aaaaahhh, if only it had the birdseye maple fretboard cause we all know rosewood just doesn't cut thru the mix right Markus??

JK, still want this bass desperately!

That bass is not as old as some believe it to be. It was built later after the official Willie Weeks bass was not to be.

The first so called Willie Weeks double J bass was not trans white.

I remember playing the bass that Willie Weeks sent back. And I think it was blue.
