Recently aquired this on a trade. It is a sunburst Guild pilot 5 with the emg jazz pickups. I'm not sure of all of the specs but will post when I get home. It comes with the OHSC. Price $550

These are great basses! I sure wish I had just a few more spare dollars. A Guild Pilot was my first good five string, and I would love to have another.

I have one of these in natural with flame maple body . Great bass. Sounds great with those active EMGs. Nicely balanced on a strap. This is a great buy for someone looking for a great American 5str J on the low low.

it might be 17.5. i think the 5 or 6 i have had were 17.5. really tight. really nice sounding B string also. the maple body pilots are my favorite.

I think it is 19mm. Mine was the first comfortable five I ever played, it felt wonderful compared to an Ibanez five that I had earlier.

My '86 Pilot 5 has adjustable string spacing and cannot be made as wide as a standard 4-string, so it's something less than 19mm. Feels similar to the spacing on a Stingray 5. Anyway, bump for a great bass at a great price with the original case (the Pilot body is odd so the right case is very nice). These are beautiful looking, playing and sounding instruments!

So on the string spacing we've got answers of 17mm, 17.5mm, 18mm, and 19mm! lol!

Can you measure the outer saddles to find out for sure?

Currently the saddles are about 18.5 but can be adjusted a little more to maybe 19mm, I guess thats where the confusion has been. The saddles are adjustable so the string spacing on some may have been set at 17 while others at 17.5 and 18
