USA LAKLAND Joe Osborn 4

This is the best bass I have ever owned and plays better then many great vintage fenders I have played. I have decided to sell a few basses and raise some cash to upgrade my double bass.

This is bass #229. It's a passive bass but is routed to accept active electronics. this was done at the factory when it was built but has spent it's entire life as a passive bass. The bass will ship in a molded Fender case. This bass has been used quite a bit, the finish is yellowed and shows plenty of wear, dings many that do not show in the pictures.

Finish: Olympic White
Body: Alder
Finderboard: East Indian Rosewood
Pickguard: tort
Pickups: Lindy Fralin
Preamp: Passive VVT
Strings: Lakeland Nickels
Built 1999

EDIT: Someone just let me know that this serial number could indicate a bass made as late as 2002, while the original owner indicated it was built in 1999. I'm not sure it matters much being that this isn't a Precbs fender. But I didn't want to leave it out.

Asking $2000 plus shipping and insurance.

Bump for a terrific fellow and just an awesome instrument. I absolutely love my Osborn (fairly similar in spec...mine is alder, but has an ebony board and a Bart NTMB to go along with the Fralins). The sound and playability of these instruments are just amazing. Good luck with the sale, and let me say...lucky is that cat who lands this one.

^You are so right, long before I considered posting this bass for sale (which I am already starting to regret) I have said many times that this bass is the best bass I have ever owned or played including some very great Pre CBS Fenders. I guess that sounds like a sales pitch now that it's for sale. But the reality is my playing has evolved over the years to the point that I NEED to gig a 5 string bass. I've got an Alleva-Coppolo LG5 that is a wonderful bass but it doesn't have the same mojo as this bass, it's just the closest I've been able to find in a 5 string.

I am assuming that is rhetorical and more pointed at your timing then mine?

In any case if you want my bass I would be willing to take it down from the classifieds and hold off for 6 months.

The only reason I even would consider that is that I love this bass and would like to see nothing more then have it go to a home where it will be appreciated.

Well, things are going to be tight until October with the taxman knocking and all... I reallllllly want to take you up on that offer, but it wouldn't be right since I don't know that I'll be able to take her in within 6 months. I'm just going to be very sad to see it go.

That's ok but the offer still stands so just let me know if you change your mind.

Please notice in the last photo I posted some dings in the finish. There are 5 small ones along the front edge. One about an inch or two up above and between the bridge and pickup as well as one a few inches above that. There are many more along the lower (treble side) of the bass that didn't show up in the photos.

Said my goodbyes in the UPS store this morning, it sure was tough to see her go...

I'm pretty sure she is going to a very good home where she will be loved and played often.

SOLD!
