I just got this bass from Cohelo, it is really clean and mean! EX+ shape. About 9-9.5 lbs. This was very close to what I'm after, but I've decided to have something custom built for me and be done with the 5'ver quest for good.
This is about 1 year old and would have sold for $2200 with the fancy top. More photos here... http://s438.photobucket.com/albums/q...youse/valenti/
$1600 shipped CONUS w/ older TKL Tolex hsc. |

I'm going to gig it tonight at The Worlds Largest BratFest (yea, it's a Wisconsin thing). I'm backing about 10 different 'Chick Singers' doing a very wide range of styles from Contemporary Country to Aggro-Pop. I usually bring a couple basses to these gigs but I think this Valenti will cover it all well.
Have a great weekend everybody! |

The Valenti sounded very very good in his hands. Nice growl and solid bottom. I'd be happy with what I heard! I also get the be free and rip around a four string thing.
Good luck!
BUMP.
Jim

This bass proved it's real world chops with style. Very aggressive when you want it, but flexible. Comfortable to boot, this gig was 2 hours facing the 90 degree sun w/ no breeze.
PS - I managed to keep from dripping sauerkraut on it. 172,559 brats consumed so far, the world record is in sight TODAY!! |

That would be the conventional wisdom, but I don't think it is accurate. Rather than bright, I would say that combo makes for a more pronounced upper mid. More 'in your face' so to speak. My only comparisons are an Alder body/Maple neck MPG Level 5 but it has P/MM p/u's. It is much 'woodier' than this Valenti. I used to own a Lakland Ash/Rosewood w/ Big Singles and it was much closer to this sound, not quite as up front. I think the Aggie pre keeps things from getting too Hi Fi and glassy, it's got a nasty quality when you toy with it.
I hope this is helpful. |
