Very Rare 1984 Aria Pro II SB Black N Gold II MIJ: Matsumoku SOLD

The reason why I finally decided to pay the fee to sell this equipment on talkbass rather than Ebay, is because it used to belong to my brother and I know it would be very important to him that this goes to someone who can appreciate it. I also found most of the info regarding this equipment from you folks here at talk bass, and I wanted to give you ladies/gentleman the first crack at this. My brother recently lost his life serving his country, leaving behind his wife and daughter. I know he put a lot of value on this equipment so I took it upon myself to do some research and make sure that his family gets a fair price for it. Music was very important to him and as such this equipment has been maintained very well.

The Black N Gold bass is in very good shape as he bought it new quite some time ago, the Matsumoku: Aria Pro II RSB Special 1 (Which I will post more info on when I get off work today) he picked up used so it is in not as good shape, but I would say it is still in good condition. This is a very nice bass with the neck through construction and it was Cliff Burtons bass of choice.(actually his was the Black N Gold 1 but very similar) It is very rare and hard to come by and It has been taken care of. I actually was not able to find another for sale when I was checking on a price. It is in great condition especially considering how old it is. It also Includes the original case. I have some more detailed pics that can be emailed upon request, they are just too large to upload here.

I would welcome any additional insight that you all may have on this bass, since I learned everything I know from this forum, you guys know more about this than I do.

It seems that this guitar is very rare, and as such, I have not been able to find a definite price, a fellow on craigslist told me that $600 is much too cheap. The SB1000's are going for $1500+ on Ebay, though no one seems to be buying them. I am asking $900 for the Black n Gold 2, but since I am still unsure of the value, I am open to offers. Let me know what you think a fair price is, I am not trying to rip anyone off. He also left a gig box full of misc. Mics, guitar pedals, cables, and little odds and ends which I will post in the appropriate section when I get off work today.

The serial on this bass is: 6033084

Thank you for your time.

I'm rollin back prices!

I am Reducing the Cost of this bass to $900!

This is what Wikipedia says about Cliff Burton and the Black N Gold bass:

# Aria SB-1000. Cliff is seen using this for "Day On The Green" with dot inlays. Cliff wasn't really a big fan of this bass and preferred the Black n Gold 1.
# Aria Black n Gold 1. This was also his favorite guitar, and used most often. This had the famous oval inlays. This guitar now resides in Metallica's current recording studio.

About Half way down the page under "Equipment"

God bless your brother and family. I'd get this if I could afford it.

Maybe someone has a Metallica connection on this board? I have no idea, but maybe they'd be interested in grabbing a bass from a Metallica/Cliff Burton fan who gave his life serving his country and helping out the family to boot.

I do indeed have a small connection. A friend of mine's father used to work at the local stadium helping musicians to get dates there. He mentioned to me that he's still somewhat in touch with Metallica's former tour manager (from the 90s). Perhaps some magic can happen?
