Vintage 1978 Fender Precision Bass - Sunburst/Rosewood Original Finish & Electronics!

SOLD!

1978 Fender Precision Bass
Original Sunburst Finish w/ Rosewood Fretboard
Original Pickups & Pots

Here's a sweet '78 P bass that sounds, plays and looks awesome! It's also really lightweight for a late '70s Fender, at just 9.75 lbs. on the bathroom scale. That's almost 2 lbs. lighter than the average for this era!

It has obviously been played a lot over the last 35 years, but it was loved and well-taken care of. The neck has a few discolored spots on the back where the finish has chipped off, but the wood is fine. The headstock has lots of dings and dents, but no cracks or anything structural. The original electronics work great, the pickup is strong, loud and definitely has the vintage P sound! This really is a great vintage bass that has it all. No Issues, No cracks, No extra screw holes, No mods, No repairs. The pics kind of make it look like it has some extra screw holes by the jack, but they are just dings and the finish is missing in those spots.

This bass is ALL ORIGINAL except the thumbrest, the chrome pickup/bridge covers, and the pickguard looks like it has less wear on it compared to rest of the body, so I'm thinking it's not original.

Everything dates to '78: The serial number (S878XXX), both pickup halves, and both pots.. and the wiring is original with virgin solder joints. Please take a look at all the date codes in the "under the hood" photos in the full album link below.

The neck is straight and it feels great. It's a comfy 1 9/16" at the nut. The truss rod works as it should. The original frets still have lots of life. It just had a pro setup and it plays awesome with low action and no deadspots.

The bass will include you choice of case (price is the same either way)..
A) The original (but beat up) plastic molded Fender case. It has cracks on the corners, it's missing 1 of the 4 hinges on the back and the little metal feet are gone except for one. It's fine for storage and will be packed very well for shipping, but I probably wouldn't gig with it. Or ...
B) A tweed hard case that is in very nice condition. Not Fender brand, but similar style. Red plush interior. Almost brand new.
See pics of both cases in the album link below.
