Here's a beautiful RARE GUILD JET STAR BASS and one hell of a CLASSY bass...it has an almost vintage jazz sound...sounds AMAZING with flats.... bass serial no. 92643 I think it's a late to early '70s bass, orginal Guild humbuckers pick ups, two volume knobs, two tone knobs, neck width 1 1/2" and an OMG bass boost switch. LOADED with beautiful vintage tone and a beautiful neck and body. Comes with gig bag, will be packed incredibly. Asking $1100.00 O.B.O plus shipping. Thanks for looking.

Hi Wacko Hatrack,

Pretty bass machine you have there! Just thought I'd let you know, your bass is a 1973 Guild JS-II bass. The Jetstar models that Guild made were sort of the mid-to-late 60's predecessors of the JS basses and looked like this:

Here's a dating resource for Guild guitars and basses:

Also, the pickups in your bass are in fact not Dark Stars. They are the stock Guild humbuckers that came standard in Guild basses starting around 1971 -- very different from Dark Stars (which are single coils), physically and tonally.
I'm guessing by "first generation" you're referring to the original Hagstrom Bisonic pickups that Dark Star pickups are based on? These were found in Guild basses from 1965-1971, at which point they were discontinued. Here's a link to the Dark Star website which has plenty of info and pictures. The original Bisonic pickups looked identical to modern Dark Stars.

Hope this info clears some stuff up. Good luck on your sale!

A big bump to one of the greatest, most honest (and funny) guys on Talkbass! Wacko & I just completed a transaction that sorely tested the limits of patience on both our ends. It seemed that everything was going against us, and he kept trudging along, went WAY out of his way to make it work. Including taking time off of work, taking an extremely long drive, and still maintaining the utmost integrity. In fact his honesty cost him a lot of money!
You can't go wrong buying from the Wack! And I feel as if I made a great new friend at the same time, we've had some wonderful talks!
(I'm going to post this on all his ads, so excuse the redundancy..)

It seems like in life as you travel through it...that you get a little or a lot jaded by some hurt/bad people...that they take a piece at time some of that innocence you are born with...and it wears you down. But just when things get a little cloudy...there comes a ray of sunshine...here's an awesome guy I didn't know from Adam and they give you back a little of your innocence , a little piece of your smile. His name is GaryLC . TalkBass has some pretty awesome humans/bass players/cat lovers/dog lovers here, we should all be really proud to have and to belong here. PEACE: ): ): ): ): )
