This is the one bass I have that I swore I would keep forever. It is in amazing shape. Built in 1982 in NY when Vinny Fodera was still working at the Smith shop.
This was a custom order for an Italian customer who reneged on the deal.
Solid maple with a nice subtle holographic looking flame. Birdseye neck. Ebony fretboard. Set neck construction. Crown headstock with classic coin emblem. Hazlabs 9v preamp, active passive/switch, series/parallel switch, treble and bass knobs, blend and volume.
I've had this for about 9 years. First thing I did was take it to Ken Smith himself who cleaned it up, checked the electronics, shielded the cavity, and gave it a fantastic set up. So this is a "pre-owned" not a "used bass".
The neck is super slim and plays so fast. Such variable tones too. I love playing this bass.
I'm hoping I don't end up selling it, because I know I'll kick myself. But sometimes you have to make room to move on.
