Vintage MM Sabre - Oly White w OHSC, PLEK & Extras!

Sign in to disble this ad
SOLD!!!!!!!!!!!!

1987 Musicman Sabre in Oly White. I have the original TOLEX case , paperwork, etc. The bass has also been PLEK'd (which is typically $200ish - $250ish). This is a 2-band pre-amp version (the one that everybody wants)!

Also included are these extras at no additional charge:
Hipshot Xtender (which cost me +/- $90)

an EXTRA Musicman (molded) hardshell case that I bought to gig her with so not to mess up the original tolex case which is in excellent condition. This extra case is a bit beat up, but the point was to have this extra case as to not put wear on the original. BOTH cases are included with the bass!!!!!!

1 clear MM Sabre pickguard (which cost me +/- $50)

All original parts included (tuner, case, black guard, etc).

So hit me up ASAP. $1500. That's very reasonable considering the condition, extras and PLEK work. PLEK was done by local and well known luthier Phil Jacoby (formerly of PRS). Has some dings (click on link to pics to see most of them), but in great overall shape considering the age of this beauty!

SOLD!!!!!!!!!!!!

I used to own one of these - a '89 blue burst w/maple f/b - in the 90's. Sweet bass. Built like a tank and made to last. The user manual with the switch functions is a nice touch!

Sorry for the ignorance, but what exactly is PLEK? I've seen that on a few threads.

Machine that levels all the frets to a very exact level.

I use to own one of these early tone monsters.
This is one clean looking bass for a stellar price.

Right around the 10 lbs mark (about 10 lbs even). Also, she balances very well. Virtually no neck dive.

Once you've had one of these for a while- you start feeling sorry for your underprivileged Stingray brothers.

I could be mistaken, but I thing that 87 (or there abouts) was the first year of the covered pickups from the factory. Experts, please feel free to confirm or correct me.

They changed to the covered pickups before EB bought MM, so around 1983.

Beautiful bass, someone needs to snap this up!

Sabre is SOLD!!!!!!!! I'll REALLY miss this one! Was my main gigging bass to lots and lots of gigs (but I always cared well for her).
