Warmoth Deluxe V Ash/Maple

Sign in to disble this ad
THE BODY IS SOLD.....

This is my first Warmoth build and it turned out shaweeet! Decided to build another one so I'm throwing this up as a feeler to possibly help fund it.

Ash body, Maple neck. Finish on body by Warmoth. Vintage white, tort PG. Flawless paint, and a really beautiful color. Tort guard has some typical player scratches on it.

All hardware is Hipshot. Ultralight tuners, two string retainers (open slot design makes string changes a breeze)
Tusq nut. Hipshot aluminum A style bridge.

Passive electronics with Fender American single coil pickups.

V/V/T using quality 500K pots.

Neck was finished by Marty Bell, satin everywhere except the headstock face (gloss).

I've had a few Metros and I can't see any real difference, the quality of ALL the components are virtually identical.

The tone is upper mid forward with a bright percussive attack. Pickups and bridge affect the tone in this direction IMHO. Bass weighs 9 lbs.

Neck shape is custom, slightly thinner than stock Warmoth.

Stainless steel vintage frets. Action is medium low and clean. Truss Rod has barely a tweak on it, this baby is rock solid.

I have well over $1000 in this plus many hours of painstaking attention to assembly. Looking to get $1000 back out of this.

This bass is just flat out a great player and stunning. I've only played a few gigs on it, if you are thinking of doing a similar Warmoth build but don't want to go to all the trouble to order parts, get a pro nut file job, and assembly, you might consider saving yourself 30-40 hours and look at this bass real hard.

I did this build to test Warmoth quality and I'm sold on their stuff so much I have another build in progress.

Just looking to turn this for cash thanks.

more pics. The body has a cutaway for better upper fret access.

Oh yeah, Warmoth Deluxe V's are all 18mm. 34" scale. Based on the Fender American Deluxe platform.

How hard would it be to add a preamp to this one? Is it routed out on the back or the control plate?

Say for example you use an Aguilar OBP, there is ample room in the control cavity for the pre-amp and one 9 volt, maybe two. Otherwise routing a battery box in the back costs about $40 here locally in San Diego. The concept for this bass was passive from the start, the tone from this medium weight ash body combined with the neck mass and resonance makes for a massive sounding B string.

I was just at Bass San Diego today and compared this bass to a very nice Sadowsky Metro. While the Metro sounded just great, the B string was indistinct compared to this Warmoth. This thing just roars with clarity and strength. It sounds best with a set of Seymour Duncan Basslines.

This bass appears to have a standard top-load Jazz control route. The only preamps that will fit without removing more wood is one with the circuit board mounted right to the pots on the control plate, like either a John East J Retro or a Audere JZ3. Which are great preamps.

Excuse me, but before I answered his question I pulled the plate last night and a Aguilar OBP-3 pre-amp literally got up off the table and jumped into the cavity by itself, Warmoth makes plenty of room in there AND....and 9 volt battery fits in there just fine.

You will run out of room really fast once you start adding the pots and switches required to make that Aggie work, believe me. I am a big Warmoth fan and have had several of these so I know from experience as well.

That said, yours is a lovely bass, I would snap that puppy up in a hearbeat if I had the $$. The entire build is beautiful. You have excellent taste sir and whoever ends up with this bass will be one lucky dude.

The body is sold, parting out the rest of the bass in accessories.
