WISHBASS #1016, MAPLE LOBE: FS/FT

Sign in to disble this ad
Wishbass #1016, a Lobe model in very nice maple over mahogany. $565.00 shipped (continental US only) if purchased outright, or cash/another Wishbass of lesser value (especially any of the early ones). No case included in sale.

Purchased from Wishbass in 2009, this 34" scale Lobe has just been completely refined and refinished in my home shop. I have reshaped the bottom of the bass, the end of the fingerboard and created a subtle forearm contour on the top. Fingerboard has been leveled and polished and every square inch of the body and neck rasped, filed and sanded out to at least 2000 grit. Bass has been sealed (4 coats) and finished in Tung oil (6 coats) with final buffing and waxing. String ferrules added along with handmade bridge, nut and cavity cover and topped with an ebony volume knob (only). Cavities shielded with copper foil and equipped with a single EMG Select pickup.

SPECIFICATIONS:

WEIGHT: 8 lbs on the old bath scale ...
SCALE: 34" ...
NECK: Thru-neck stringers of purpleheart, maple and mahongany - no truss rod ...
BODY: Maple over mahogany with some reshaping ...
FINGERBOARD: Persimmon, leveled & polished ...
WIDTH @ NUT: 1-11/16" ...
CONTROLS: Volume only and front output jack ...
PICKUP: EMG Select ...
STRINGS: GHS Flats (new), with ferrules ...
FINISH: Shellac seal coats (4) under gloss Tung oil (6), buffed and waxed ...
NUT: Purpleheart (has turned brown in color) ...
BRIDGE: Multiple-hardwood laminate (unknown) ...
COVER: Flame maple sealed with Tung oil ...
CASE/BAG: None ...

I have LOTS of build photos as well as 'before' shots, if you are interested. Got questions? I'm glad to help. Hope to hear from you!

Here's a 'before' shot, and a couple of 'during' shots, just for grins ...

Change in color tone of the wood is due to using a flash, which was dumb ...

Nice work. One question:

Quote:
WIDTH @ NUT: 1-1/16"
is not a typo? Typical Jazz nuts being 1 & 8/16" (1.5 in).

Thanks so much for pointing that out! It is a typo. I corrected it - it should be 1-11/16. My apologies. No wonder I haven't sold it!!!
