| Wishbass #1173, 4 string fretless I think I bought this one three years ago from Wishnevsky. Love the tone, love the feel, but I've become reliant on the 5 string.
I don't think this body style has a name, but it's one of the more "mainstream" Wishes I've seen. Dogwood body, Persimmon fretboard. The neck is a 5 piece with purpleheart, I think maple, and something else. (See pics, I guess.) Single EMG select with volume control only.
The not-so-good : Has a buzz (probably grounding) that I never bothered to fix. The P/U is very hot compared to my other basses, so it was never an issue as I never turned it up very loud.
Though I always loved the look, someone else might want to do some finish work to smooth the curves and make it shiny.
Has an extra hole on the upper bout where the strap button was moved, I assume, for better balance.
The Good : Tone is fantastic. Warm and woody, tons of mids for a great mwah. A guitarist I worked with described it as "a big comfy blanket made of wood." I can't say it better than that.
Excellent playability. As far as I know there hasn't been any set up work done since it was made. Given the sometimes uneven results from Wish, this one may be a mistake. No dead spots and low, comfortable action. Side position markers are true (don't know if they are dead on, but they were always close enough for me to stay in tune reliably.)
I'm also listing the looks under the good, cause me and everyone who ever bothered to comment found it very pretty.
I've been using an old Conklin case to lug it around and you can have it if you want it. A gig bag should be easy as it's a pretty normal shape.
If you wanted to re-work it, it wouldn't take much. I used it for a lot of gigs (sits really well with acoustics) and I liked it just the way it is. Unfortunately, I always find myself reaching for the low B and it's not there, so it's time for a different fretless.
Let's start at $350 shipped CONUSA but I don't really know the market on these, so reasonable offers will be considered as well.
How's about $300.
