I have a early 80’s Hondo II P bass copy for sale. I bought it in 1984. It was a nice turquoise (!) color originally and served me well until I moved up to bigger and better things. I’ve kept the bass over the intervening years and recently “rehabbed” it. I gutted the original bass and rebuilt from the ground up. Neck pocket is quite tight. The body was stripped and refinished in a black nitro (spray can job); not a Fender finish, but not a Fender price either. I replaced the stock brass bridge with a Fender vintage bridge, and gutted the electronics. The original pickup was weak with a capital “W”. I dropped in a Fender unit and had Butch at Bayou Audio build me a new P bass wiring harness using all the good stuff. I replaced the strap buttons with sturdy units, same for the control knobs. Oh, also replaced the string tree with an Allparts Fender replacement. It’s been drilled to accept a Fender bridge cover, (though one is not included). Original tuners and black pickguard. 1.670” wide at the nut, weighs 9.5lbs on my digital fish scales.
This bass sounds and plays 110% better than it did when new. Would make a good beginner bass or backup with good components for not much coin.
$175 $150 $99 + shipping/insurance. USPS m.o. preferred but PayPal is ok if it's a dealbreaker.
Not really looking for a trade opportunity now; I found what I wanted. Looking to blow out a nice player's bass.
No case NOW! Included is a gigbag.. little worn with a couple of tears but completely serviceable. Will be extremely well packed.
Thanks for looking,
