EDIT: In order to possibly grab a fretless available in the classifieds, I would be happy to ship and insure this bass in the lower 48 for $2650 as long as that bass is still available. Thanks
I am looking for a Pentabuzz, plain and simple. So, to get that, I am offering up my superb Wood&Tronics Chronos 5 for trade. I have put this bass up before, and always end up taking it down because it such a nice bass and silly versatile, but I am playing more fretless now than I have in decades, so I want the fretless I've always wanted. Damn you Mark Egan! LOL
So, specs -
Body : Alder with Alder/purpleheart toneblock (honestly, I don't know which piece is the toneblock lol. There is alder and purpleheart back there, make of it what you will)
Top : Indian Apple
Neck : 3 piece , Maple / Ash / Maple
Fretboard : Macassar Ebony
Preamp : Custom John East / W&T Design (vol, blend, bass boost/cut & treble boost/cut, mid boost/cut & mid sweep, active passive/tone) Passive tone is always on, which is pretty cool
Pickups : Christoph Dolf Dual Coils (bassculture.de)
Bridge : ETS Tuning Fork
Spacing : not 100% certain, but it looks like 18.3. It's very comfortable at any rate.
Tuners : Hipshot Ultralight
Some pics of it at my house, with my BB75 (not for sale): http://jim777.com/images/basses/woodtron/
I can take as many pics as folks want to see.
This is a review of this exact bass, not a similar one but the very same bass done by our own J. Wolf for Bass Musician magazine: http://bassmusicianmagazine.com/2010...-5-string-bass
Enrico Passini of W&T was the sole Italian distributor of Fodera basses in Italy for about 10 years before starting W&T. In an email conversation I had with Enrico Passini of W&T, he said: "Congratulations for your bass achievement, that one happens to be one of our ten best-sounding basses ever. Its low-B focus especially deserves some praise as it is so focused and playable that I personally have experienced a very few times in my life, on any bass guitar."
This is a superb, though 'rare in The States' high end/boutique bass. As nice as any other handmade Italian piece of art.
At the moment I am not looking to sell it and buy a Pentabuzz, I would rather a trade if possible. These sell new at about $4500, so I am looking at a trade value between $2700-3000 here.
I am looking for a stained, not painted PB with the P/J config and 17.5 spacing.
