SOLD! SOLD! SOLD!This will conclude my tough decisions with what's left of my Yamaha's. I'm down to 3 now and this is the most desirable IMO. It's the original version of the BB basses. BB stands for BroadBass in case some of you are new to the BB line. The early models actually said "BroadBass on them. This is one of them.
This was the first serial number for 1978. It doesn't have any mods. The toggle went bad and was replaced but I still have the original one that I"ll include. I looked for this bass forever and finally scored this one this summer. It didn't come with the form fitted case but I located one shortly after to complete the package. I can't afford to just collect great basses like this so it's being sold.
I just had it set up and it plays and sounds wonderful. A few bumps but as you can see it's still a real jewel.
$975 shipped conus SOLD!

That is the LOWEST serial number that I have encountered and I have been following this bass since my dayz in Hollywood 1981, when I saw Ken Wild performing with SEAWIND at the Country Club in Encino/Reseda ?
He had a T Burst Broad Bass and a Gallien Kreuger head- the early big 400 RB that looks like a TRAYNOR Monoblock head.
Me and my friends were laid out cold.
Then we saw Abe Laboriel with one...case closed.

He now plays its own signature model TRB 6.
This is a solo of him in '83, he still own that bass! CASIOPEA

You have the same era/model Broad Bass that Michael Anthony used to record Van Halen I and II. I don't think another one like that will come across these classifieds in a loooooong time.
Good luck with the sale. Someone will love that bass. |

I'm interested. |

The P pickup is inverted which takes the E & A strings closer to the bridge pickup which makes it more focused. The D & G strings of coures are now closer to the neck than standard P pickups. That gives those strings more J like character and especially during slap mode with both pickups being used. For prime examples check out George Hawkins Jr. on Kenny Loggins Alive CD(LP) from the late 70's/early 80's. Especially "Junkanoo Holiday", "Wait a Little While", "I Believe in Love"..... There's probably something on YouTube from a live outdoor concert. If not, get it from itunes, you won't be sorry. |
