Yamaha Motion-B Bass

Sign in to disble this ad
Excellent condition Yamaha Motion Bass (MB-3). 32" scale, and ULTRA light at 7.0 lbs.! Very fast playing bass, with a much deeper sound than you'd expect from a medium scale light-weight bass. Dual humbuckers, with volume/balance/tone knobs. The bass is passive, and I believe it was made in 1986. Great condition, with just a few minor marks. Comes with the original hardshell case, also in very nice condition.

This would be a fantastic bass for someone smaller, or anyone who wants to run around all night at a 3 hour gig, with no fear of a sore shoulder.

PRICE DROP...$350.00 shipped, lower 48

Easily in the top 5 absolute BEST sounding and playing short scale basses ever produced. Great travel axes, they even fit in some guitar gig bags.

Good price, be patient, it will move.

Does this model have the fine tuners at the bridge? I cannot tell from the photos. Thanks!

No, it's a standard bridge. I had an another Motion bass in the 80's with the fine-tuners, and in my opinion, it just seemed like extra weight, and complexity for no reason.

I also have one of these and they are a steal for the price they demand. Even though it is 32' scale because of the small body and headstock overall length is about the same as my shorties. Recently saw an old Average White Band video and the bass player was killing one of these.

Thanks for the positive vibes.

I can't believe no one's grabbed this yet.

I owned one when I first moved to London, I was broke at the time and sold it for around 200 bucks.

I was able to eat, and since I had just received my 6 string, I kept my grief to a minimum..

but,

I later learned that they supposedly didn't sell that model in the UK and that it was "rare."

I was also told when I went back a week later, that it was worth around 1000 dollars (or pounds, can't remember exactly which..) and basically, I was well and truly screwed.

A short while later, I was in soho with a Saxophonist, and the band playing had a bassist... playing my old Motion. (I recognized every scar and abrasion that I put on it easily.), only this guy had cut off the headstock and turned it into a steinberger/hybrid/frankenbass...

I was most upset, that he slaughtered it...

The sessions I did with it were great. It has serious bottom end according to the Philly engineers I worked with. I paid around 700 dollars for it new in 1985..

Once again, a good bass!

Most definitely an underestimated bass.. I had a black Motion B.... loved the sound.. played really well... unfortunately, I sold it to fund a 5 string bass (basically I was hired by a country band who wrote the majority of their songs in either low D or C). It's one of 2 basses that I wish I didn't sell (the other one being an early 80's Squier PBass).

Not really a bump, just vouching for the seller.... amazing bass, how sweet the sound.
