I have decided to make one more attempt at selling my 1995 Yamaha TRB-6.
More pics available in the old thread: FS: Yamaha TRB-6 $TB Only Deal$
Note the glowing compliments, e.g.: "the TRB6 is a great bass"
"Very nice paint job"
"These are extremely formidable instruments with a powerful sound and a great build quality."
"I highly recommend them and this is a perfectly reasonable price. Actually for the quality, it is a great price."
"This bass is amazing!"
"a great bass"
"Just beautiful"
"I had one of these for years, love the HUGE fretboard, mine sounded and played great - nice bass for the price here!"
"Someone should buy this."
"Love the sound and feel"
"nice!!!! "
All that, and nobody has bought it yet! So now: FINAL PRICE REDUCTION: $850 with Free Shipping! (lower 48 only) (NOTE: This is NOT the cheaper, made-in-Korea, Yamaha TRB-1006!!! This TRB-6 was finely crafted by Yamaha in Japan. The TRB-6 bass was discontinued several years ago. I paid over $1000 for it, plus $350 to refinish it, plus I just spent another $100 to have it professionally setup with new strings. The price I am asking is very reasonable. If nobody wants to buy it, I will keep it and sell something else to pay my bills.)
The beautiful TRB-6 is the bass upon which the John Patitucci TRB-6PJP is based. It has the same 34" neck (rosewood instead of ebony), body shape (but solid ash), and Yamaha 5-way controls, but not the piezo pickup or the fancy inlays on the fretboard. The pickups use the extremely silent Hum cancelling Alnico V coils.
This bass was finely crafted in Japan.
The fretboard has TWO dual-action truss rods. The neck is slim and very easy to play.
This bass has a custom finish-- a gorgeous satiny black which beautifully compliments the gold hardware.
My favorite guitar tech just put on new strings and adjusted the neck, etc., so everything is in tip-top shape! (The pictures here are with the old strings.)
Here are some specs from the included Service Manual: Scale length: 863.6 mm (34") Neck: Bolt-on Length: 1160 mm (45.66") Width: 354.3 mm (13.95") Weight: 4.9 kg (10.8 lbs, but it's perfectly balanced!) Body: Ash Fingerboard: 24 fret Rosewood,
50.6mm (2") at nut, 82.7mm (3.5") at 12th fret Hardware: Gold plated Nut: Bone For TB members only, I will sell this fantastic, rare bass for the incredibly low price of only $850 including FREE shipping! I will ship FREE to the continental USA (the "lower 48") only. I will also ship ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD, at the actual cost of shipping. YOU will be responsible for any customs duties, VAT, or other fees.
No trades please-- I really need the cash!
Paypal works for me. I will ship within 1 business day of payment to anyone in the continental USA with a confirmed PayPal address. Otherwise, whipping will have to wait until the money clears.

However, if you want it in amber, a decent luthier should be able to refinish it, closely matching the Yami amber, for about $350.

Just got back from a grrrreat gig tonight and used my '94 TRB-6. We had a very experienced touring Chicago blues drummer with us and there was some serious booty kicking going on! It is hard to convey just how powerful and effective these basses are. They are simply fantastic in every department, and very versatile as well. To all prospective buyers: This price is absurdly low. Once you get rolling with this axe you will see what an advantage a 34" scale six-string with a great build quality actually is. The bass knob is almost like a second volume. Rolling it forward past the detent adds HUGE but usable bass.
Bump for very serious instrument. |

I actually think this bass looks just as cool as the Pattituci model, if not more elegant. I never really did understand Yamaha's affiniti for that flat amber finish.
I'd pick this up just because of the price, but I'm a full-time gigger and buisness has been slow. Best of luck with the sale bro!

| | | | nice. yes, info spacing please- string spacing at nut, 24th, bridge. this is the Big Question for me, cuz i'm interested, and am curious about those specs. |

| | Registered User | | Join Date: Apr 2008 Location: Chicago, USA | | | String Spacing for 90's TRB-6 I used a GEI steel ruler and a magnifying glass to get the following measurements: String Spacing
at bridge: 19mm string to string (total B to C is 95mm or 3 11/16ths inches). This is standard Fender 3/4 inch spacing at the bridge.
at nut: 9.5mm string to string (total B to C is 47.5mm or 1 7/8ths inches) Neck Width
at nut: 2 3/16ths inches (56mm)
at 24th fret: 3 3/4 inches (96mm)
And by the way, the scale of these basses is actually 33 7/8", which, imnsho, definitely gives it some special tactile mojo. |

It appears to be too late to edit that post now, but obviously I meant "shipping", not "whipping". (Sorry if anyone out there got their hopes up, but I do not provide whipping!)
In the past few months, my subscription elapsed, so I could not post anything to this thread until I paid again. Thanks to Kevin Woods for answering the questions about string spacing and neck width in the mean time!
