Concerning Trades: Just got a HEAVY bill from my son's orthodontist (he had to get an ortho appliance installed). So that's why I'm dumping some gear. Normally might consider a trade, but can't this time.
These are hand crafted in the Yamaha Custom Shop. Very high end. These have been favorably compared to many boutique basses that cost thousands more (Modulus, F Bass, Fodera, Pedulla, etc). This bass is NO JOKE. Very high quality and extremely versatile thanks to a extremely configurable pre-amp. Hard to see in the small pictures here on craigs, but the ash grain that shows through on this bass is absolutely amazing in person. Simply stunning to look at.
Crafted in Japan, this beautiful bass has a Transparent Blue finish and is a real player. It has wonderful tone, stays in tune well, and the neck is straight, with a nice low action. Serial number is 4P27033, which can help establish the age. It has a few small nicks and indentations on the body and headstock, normal wear for a 15 year old bass.
It has gold hardware and black knobs. The Yamaha humbucker pickups are supported by a 3 band preamp and this bass has TONS of tonal possibilities. The electronics feature Vol, Pickup Pan, Treble Boost/Cut, Bass Boost/Cut and a 3 Position Phase Selector. The bass boost goes SUPER low when turned past 9. This is a very cool feature.
The preamp is adjustable from inside the back as well. You can cut/boost the mids, boost the overall output, and there are adjustments for EQ1 and EQ2 with a center point for each.
It is strung with a new set of Infeld Super Alloy strings (very expensive strings), and comes with the factory wood/tolex hard shell case (also VERY high quality). $649 which is a STEAL for an instrument of this caliber!

1st generations had P/J pickup configurations.

I could be wrong, I'm thinking if I am, the TRB-5p was the only 5 string available at the time, then the introduced the TRB-5. I can tell you the first models (I have an original 5p) had PJ pickups and a 34" scale.

| That is not correct, they were made in the same factory that made many of the higher end Ibby's and the Heartfield Dr's. They are production line instruments, albeit high quality production line instruments.
