Zon Sonus 5 (SOLD)

Bass is in excellent shape. There is only one blemish on the bass which is a small ding in the black on the bottom edge (see photos). It's not noticeable unless you look for it. If it were not for the ding, it could pass for new.

This bass has Bart J-style pickups and according to a previous owner a Bart 3 band EQ with the 3-way switch to select the midrange center freq. I am not sure of the year of the bass, but it looks somewhat recent. Previous owner thought it was a 2005, though neck date looks like '06. Neck does have a truss rod adjustment.

34" scale. I read about 1 7/8" at the nut and about 17mm spacing at the bridge.

Bass weighs 9.0 lbs and comes with the Zon factory gig bag, which is made by PRO TEC. No issues, other than the one ding.

Priced to move at $1900 shipped & insured CONUS. PayPal works for me, but I can make other arrangements if needed.

I’m trying to scale back on my arsenal and would prefer an outright sale, but I know folks are going to ask about trades. I would consider the following in a trade deal +/- cash as appropriate:
- Sadowsky
- Stingray 4 or 5
- Other EBMM Basses (Sterling, Big Al, Bongo)
- Roscoe 5 or 6
- MTD
- Spector USA or Czech
- Precision-style Bass (Fender, Lakland, Lull, etc.)

Any trades would need to be light, around 9 lbs or less.

That's one of my old ones. It's a 2005 that originally came with a Polyfusion preamp, but I swapped it out for the Bart 4.3 A/P last year. Nice bass that in some ways I prefer over my current Zon.

Thanks for the updated info. It's definitely a great bass.

Updated Description

Bass does have a truss rod adjustment. The preamp has a push/pull on the volume control to bypass the pre and run in passive mode. The balance control is wired the opposite of what is considered standard. Clockwise is bridge and counter-clockwise is neck. This is the way Sadowsky and some other builders do it and personally, I prefer it. It is an easy change if you like it the other way.

I got a question from someone about the ding on the bottom edge.

I purposely had the camera about an inch away to show it at its worst. I probably should have put something in the photo to show perspective. It's only about 3/8" at its widest. Because its on the bottom edge, and out of site, I forget it's even there. It's quite shallow as well. I can't really tell if it's just in the finish or if the underlying wood is dented. Because its in the black, I believe it could be touched up quite easily, though it's never bothered me, and I'm fussy about my gear.

I'll take a couple of more photos with a ruler.

Bump for a beautiful bass and an awesome guy to do business with...

If you have even considered a Sonus then don't let this one get away!

I appreciate the kind words. This is a great piece.

A couple of near misses, but still available.

Added some more photos to the gallery and here's a photo of the Zon gig bag, which is made by PRO TEC:
