Yes, there's a catch to that super low price. The bass has been modded by the original owner and it wasn't the cleanest job. I'll get to that later.
This is a Zon Sonus 519 - crotch california walnut top, ash back, Bartolini pickups (Bartolini MM-style bucker installed aftermarket), upgraded Seymour Duncan preamp, satin finish graphite neck. 35" scale, 19mm string spacing. Retail price with these options is $5060, MSP is $3795.
Bass is in great shape aside from the aforementioned mods, some clearcoat chips on the headstock and one tiny blip to the left of the rear pickup. Some very light hazing in the "slap zone". Neck/frets are near perfect. Plastic still on the back plate.
As you can see from the pics below, the routing for the back pickup is not clean and there is a gap in the back. The previous owner had filled the gap w/foam and covered it with black electrical tape. I was going to have the route cleaned up and the gap flled with color matched wood (like a custom pickup ring). Or I was going to have custom wood pickup covers made for both pickups. But the 35" scale/19mm spacing doesn't work for me anyway, so I'm passing this bass on. I paid $1500 for this bass and that's before all the cleaning I did + new DR strings. Comes with a Zon padded gig bag.
