| Well, searching the internets revealed a conversation about how it stands for "plain label" in that there is no rubber cover over the magnet. These are used in JBL branded cabinets and the rubber cover is put on for protection in shipping and handling of a raw driver. Apparently there are rumors that the rubber also covers magnets that are perhaps not cosmetically perfect. Who knows for sure? JBL probably. If anyone else has a good explanation, I'd love to hear it!
Anyway, this came out of a JBL install cabinet that got banged up and the mdf it was made out of crumbled leaving a perfectly good driver. I was going to put it in my TL606 but it turned out that it has a slightly different hole pattern than the driver that was in there, so I have not had a chance to use it.
