15" drivers for sale.

A McCauley B1540 and a JBL 2226HPL. The JBL is barely used. The McCauley has some miles on it but still works as new. Both will handle a decent amount of power.

I don't think either works perfectly as a full range driver as they are pretty rolled off on the top end but the price is right:

$75 each plus shipping.

What's the "PL" mean on the JBL? I have an H, which I thought indicated 8 ohm. I used it in my B15N for a few years and it sounded great to me.

Well, searching the internets revealed a conversation about how it stands for "plain label" in that there is no rubber cover over the magnet. These are used in JBL branded cabinets and the rubber cover is put on for protection in shipping and handling of a raw driver. Apparently there are rumors that the rubber also covers magnets that are perhaps not cosmetically perfect. Who knows for sure? JBL probably. If anyone else has a good explanation, I'd love to hear it!

Anyway, this came out of a JBL install cabinet that got banged up and the mdf it was made out of crumbled leaving a perfectly good driver. I was going to put it in my TL606 but it turned out that it has a slightly different hole pattern than the driver that was in there, so I have not had a chance to use it.

PS I love your quote!

Thanks!

Parts Express sells these for $333 new from a list of $479. 600W RMS, 30-2500Hz but has usable response above that (you are right, not "full-range").

Somebody should snatch it up for a vintagey 1x15. I would, but timing is just bad and I have a full enough garage. You should scrounge up some specs on that McAuley as well for folks - they make some fantastic PA drivers.

The JBL is sold, but the McCauley is still here.
