I recently purchased an Ampeg 215 cab of similar vintage. The seller used a piece of heavy cardboard (1/2" or so) against the speakers, then wrapped the whole thing top to bottom in plastic wrap (about 1/4 to 1/2 inch thick). It made it from Ohio to Nebraska safe & sound.
