This amp totally rules, but I'm moving towards tube gear.
You don't find these too often.
It's pretty heavy, so I'd like to keep it local.
It's old but really clean.
$800 $700 obo. All trades considered!
If you want to ship it, I'd be willing to but it would cost a ton.

Feel free to request more pics. Just let me know what you'd like pictures of.

Wow...I actually had that same cabinet for awhile back in the 70's. One of the many that passed in and out of my life. Thanks for the past life therapy.

This is my story, and I'm sticking to it.

This company had some connection to Kustom, and the amps were produced in the same town of Chanute, Kansas.

I believe they were highly regarded in their day but somehow never caught on. A little heavy. But back then what wasn't heavy?

I know I saw a music store full of them in Pittsburg, Kansas back in 1975 (my dad was from there). Never saw another one in person before or since.

Occasionally I'd see one on TV (like on the 'Tonight' show) for about a year after.

Good luck. Somebody REALLY wants this, I'm sure.

Bud Ross designed these amps after he sold Kustom. IMHO, its some of his best work.
I was looking to find another head, theres one in Missouri.
I was also looking for a 215 cabinet (they originally came with 2 cabinets, either 2 215s or 2 118s), found one in philly.
Other than those things, haven't found another piece of road gear.

I thought Rickenbacker had their hands in with Road in some of the 70's & 80's?

They did. Bud Ross sold Road to Rickenbacker, which only produced Road amps for a short period of time. I believe this is a Pre-Ric head and cab, although theres almost not difference (functionally) between Pre-Ric and Ric era Roads.

Oh man....I wish you were in California.
I play big old tube heads through an old ROAD 4x12 cab and it got the best tone. I would love to have this 18 cab to go with it. I have been looking for more ROAD cabs everywhere but they are few and far between.
I want it, but don't want to pay to ship it here as they are heavy as hell.

That is indeed true, they do rule.
I've been scrapin for a 412, but the white whale is a 215.
They were meant to push 2 cabs, I'd kill for the matching 215's.

Road used a EV driver.

How firm are you on that price?

I have a Collection of Road Bass Gear, But, I Am Always Looking To Expand.

It is Deffinately Ross's Best Work!

Don't Let The 200 Watt Power Rating Scare You.

This Mama Jama Will Blow Down Walls, Loudest Amp I've Ever Played...

I toured the states a few years back with a Road 440 and Straight Back 810 = Best Tone Ever!

Also - You Will Regret Selling This...

I've actually decided to remove this listing, it rocks too hard.
If you're thinking of selling any of YOUR road gear, let me know.
