I have been using this AMPEG SVP- PRO for about a year now. I use it in conjunction with a CROWN XTi 2000 power amp. It has the "bell tone" that we all love.
It has five tubes in it. Four 12ax7's, and one 12au7. The four are Sovtecs, and the one is a Groove Tube, for that hi-fi, bell tone.
I just spent $175 on it over the past few months. I had the board re-soldered, a new heater installed, and tubes. It had a full set up.
I have mixed emotions about selling it. On the one hand, I was in the middle of a show, and I was interupted MID SONG by a drummer who had a tear in his eye becasue he loved my tone so much. At the time, I had THIS rig going through an SWR Henry 8x8. It was THE bell tone.
On the other hand, I have since sold the Henry 8x8, and I prefer my Peavey Firebass (at the moment 'til I GAS again) for my overall sound.
So, $175 in repairs/upgrades , and a price of $500 shipped. Sounds like a great deal.
