SOLD!! Thanks to everyone that responded! Central NJ - $900 Firm!
Very rare...especially in this kind of shape! Late 70's vintage Acoustic 450 Bass/Guitar Head AND 406 (2X15) Bass Cabinet... considered to be the BEST OF THE BEST in the late 70's early 80's... these amps were stage and studio icons for the most influential players of their time. Absolutely amazing condition for its age… the head includes a 5 Band EQ, distortion circuit and a whole host of other features. The cool thing about this head is that it can be used for guitar or bass and has a front-mounted polarity toggle switch which allows you to change options on the fly. Led Zeppelin, The Doors, Jaco, YES, etc... they all used Acoustic amps in their day and their sound is as unique as the amps they’ve played through. As you would think this is the real deal… made in the USA!
I am the ORIGINAL owner (I may even have the original receipt from Sam Ash) and it comes with its ORIGINAL vinyl covers (this amp and cab remains covered to preserve quality).... It has been sitting in a smoke-free household (not a basement or garage) environment and has only been used on maybe 30 gigs since I acquired it. If you play bass then you know this is the perfect setup for a Rick ...just ask Chris Squire!
The head is 175 RMS / 350 peak watts of pure… clean… solid state (which by today's headroom standards is much louder than one would think) and has built in distortion for tube-like sound when required. The 2x15 bottom will absolutely shatter glass yet it has tone that you can scoop with bass, treble, midrange, presence and a 5-band EQ and bright switch that can cut through even the heaviest of Marshall/Mesa stacks!. This is truly a rare find… if you're looking at this then you know what this is all about.
This head and matching cabinet are both in excellent condition… especially considering their age. Everything works as it should but does show some very slight signs of wear (although the Tolex is amazingly clean as are the speaker grills). The volume pot has some slight hiss as you raise it… but I suppose it also comes with some original 70’s dust on the inside and just needs some cleaning...not a big deal at all. This amp can be played immediately without requiring any setup.
Acoustic products are known to be built like tanks and offered unmatched reliability, features and tonal capabilities. The only reason I'm selling is because I know that someone who still plays would truly benefit from it as I have over the years. This is one kick-ass sounding bass amp!! Cash and carry only (too big to ship) ...and please... if you're just browsing you’re welcome to read but please let’s not waste our time. If you're truly interested in acquiring an iconic amp setup… then email me and I'll arrange for demo if… you include your location and contact information...thanks!
