Alembic F-2B

Sign in to disble this ad
1998 Alembic F-2B, fresh back from Alembic where it has been refurbished to factory condition. The ususal scratches are visible where it was rackmounted, but otherwise it's in good cosmetic condition. I have treated this piece of gear with kid gloves for 12 years; all controls and switches feel and function perfectly and the unit sounds as new. IEC cord included (not pictured)

Free ship in North America

Asking $550 (US OR Canadian) shipped via Canada Post.

Howdy. What exactly did Alembic do to "refurbish" the preamp? Also, out of curiosity, did you ever jump-cable from channel 1 to 2 and, if so, how would you describe the tone as compared to just using a channel separately? Thanks, DM

I sent it in because I was getting some crackling and hiss in both channels. They discovered some oxidation on the solder joints and a loose wire connecting the A/B mix (M) channel output. Repair consisted of replacing the tubes, re-solderig the caps and wires, and cleaning the "M" output jack.

I haven't tried cascading the channels but it can be done.
