Ampeg V4BH 100W All Tube Head USA

Sign in to disble this ad
This is a fantastic head. Made in the USA.
I used this for about 6 months with a 5 piece band and it was more than enough power. It has a great 100 Watt all-tube tone and is only about half the weight of an SVT. I just bought an Orange AD200B and can't afford to keep both.
It is in excellent condition. There is a small tear on the front grill cloth that you can see in the photos. It was there when I bought the head.
The head also comes with a really cool padded Ampeg cover.
I would like to get what I paid for it, which is $750 plus shipping. If you can pay by USPS money order or bank transfer, I will ship the head for free.

What kind of tubes are in this? I've also never played the VB4H. Whats its comparable to soundwise? I can ship out the MO tomorrow, if you get back to me tonight and I like what I hear.

They are Sovtek 5881WXT's. I believe there are 4 of them.
Tone-wise, the amp has a little more mids than an SVT. The notes are all clear when I play fast 16th notes. It has a DI as well and I have gotten a lot of compliments on my tone when playing live.

I'm sure TSanders can vouch for me, as I see he has decided to hold on to his. I can see myself buying another one of these in the future, but right now my Orange is making me pretty happy.

I actually moved mine, for an SVT-2 Pro.

I LOVE both amps. The V4BH is honestly one easy amp to good a good sound out of. Its got the "Ampeg" sound, as DBopp stated maybe more midrange than the SVT and not as dark. This baby will get big and round though. Out of all the amps Ive used (see my profile) this is one of the best.

I have two of these and a 2Pro. All three are just great sounding heads.
I was wondering about that cover. I have hard cases for my amps, but would like some covers for my SVT 410HE and SVT 115 cabinets. How's the quality of those covers.
And a bump for your head.

The cover is awesome. Obviously its not for heavy duty transportation, but its really good for putting in the trunk of your car or back seat. It helps to avoid those annoying little scuff marks and tolex tears.
