B-Max has separate passive and active input jacks. B-Max has GAIN control also.
383 has PUNCH switch boosting both low and high freq.
B-Max has bright switch boosting highs only at 5kHz.
383 has 6 eq bands a 60,125,250,600,1800 & 3300 Hz. All +/- 15dBu (boost or cut).
B-Max has Bass (40Hz boost only) Mid (300Hz cut only) High (6kHz boost only) Para-mids (250hz- 1kHz boost or cut)
383 has a x-over with adjustable FREQ and BALANCE (level between Hi and Lo)
B-Max does not have a x-over.
383 compressor and BBE Process are switchable from front panel only.
B-Max is front switching PLUS has foot-switching capability (jack on back panel).
All other features are common (master vol, DI, FX loop, etc)
I had not idea how similar they were until you asked and I compared manuals.
383 manual also includes schematics (bonus).
Thanks for asking,

small combo amp for bedroom practice
jazz bass of decent quality (Squier, SX, Turser, etc)
might add a little cash for a tempting trade.
Throw your trade offers my way and we'll see what sticks. |
