Big Daddy Crown Macrotech 2402, Price Dropped!

PRICE DROPPED

The time has come for me to acknowledge that the old pre/power rig is never going to resurface. I've only used one side of this amp for the past year or two to drive a single 8 ohm subwoofer in the PA for an act I gig with. Not getting used to its potential on bass, so it really ought to go to a home where it can stretch it's legs.

Crown Macrotech 2402. Hands down the best lead sled power amp you can plug into a regular outlet without making breakers immediately blow. Say whatever you like about gain matching, this amp is flat out more authoritative than any of the fly weights. It's big, it's heavy, and it sounds like it. I've never driven it hard because I've never wanted to be deaf. 2070 watts outta this thing will scream like a titan and loosen your bowels for you.

Has two cosmetic issues. A guitard set it on a step perhaps 8 or 10 inches off the ground and it slid forward off that step (it is kinda front heavy in the case). No real damage was done, but the tug bars on the front got bent a touch. Damned good thing they were there too as I went into auto "Oh Crap" mode and tried to catch the amp with my foot. Those tug bars saved me a broken foot. Second issue is a different guitard tried setting it down on the power cord and pushing it back on stage. It created a little cut/knick in the outer wrap, but the cable itself is still fine. No real damage was done to anything but the outer wrap. Rewrap it if it bugs you, never bothered me so I left it as is. Just wanted there to be no surprises.

I'll ship it in a 4 space Gator case. Although I think it is branded "Mars music" on the front, it's a gator case complete with the "GATOR" moniker recessed into the top. I'll also toss in a couple heavy gauge banana plug cables as I won't have any use for them after this amp is gone. From memory it they either 20 or 25 footers.

$800 plus shipping for this behemoth. New they are running $2400 at musicians friend, so that's a substantial discount for some bent rails (plus you get a gator case too!). Paypal is fine, no international deals. Sorry, I've had nothing but hassles there. The sucker isn't light, so shipping will not be completely negligible. Shouldn't be prohibitive either. I'll drive up to an hour and a half to meet someone for a "local" sale. If you are willing to lug the weight for the best power amp to ever come down from the mount, then come and get it. These just don't show up on here.

Possible trades I'd be interested in.

Lightweight high end large'ish cabs. Think epi/berg 410/212's. A 4 ohm EA nl410 would work too, but I've seen neither hide nor hair of that beast. Feel free to run any bass trades by me, but I just picked up a wonderful Chris Larkin so my GAS is satiated on the instrument front for the moment. Any 5+ stringers must be 34" scale and in the vincinity of 19mm to interest me.

All trades will be plus/minus cash as required.

Thank you; it's been a long day and that made me laugh out loud. Can I get an amen for the brother with the bigass power amp?

Heh, thanks man.

I actually think I might have a couple banana clip cables now that I think about it. If I have two, I'll ship it with two cables.

Found another banana clip power cable, so the amp will include both as I'll have no use from them once this sells. They look like 25 feet each but I didn't stretch them out and measure them.

Dropping the price to $800 plus shipping. The transients from this amp are far quicker than those from the fly weights. It would make someone wanting the big pre/power setup VERY happy. Wish that someone was me, but right now it isn't.

If someone has a pedulla buzz/pentabuzz wide and they want to work out a trade situation, lemme know.

Consider this an "I need a new neck for my fretless" bump. If someone has a higher end graphite lined fretless P neck (like Status or Modulus) that they want to offer as trade bait, I'm listening...

PM's returned

I'll eat shipping and go for $800 shipped to CONUS, but that's it. The only reason I am doing that is I am looking at a new graphite neck for my fretless.

Bump

No longer interested in cab trades. I'm fixed there. I'd edit the original post but evidently too much time has passed and that is no longer an option.

Would be great as a backup to my Microtech 1200, witch is my backup to my Crest CA6, but some people think it might be too much. What do they know. Good luck and it's an amazing amp.

Note to buyers : Macrotech amps also have PIP modules that can be inserted in the amp, with limiters, crossovers, and others..... Many PA guys consider this series of amps as THE BEST.

Arise from the dead!

OK, figured I'd try bumping this instead of reposting.

I've kept this in storage thinking that I might need it in a PA at some point. Nope. Been used perhaps 2 or 3 times since the last time I bumped this thread. I am however getting a LOT more work on upright these days. I'd like to move this power amp in favor of gear that I can use with the big bass.

$800 plus shipping. I'll still include a four space gator case and however many (at least a couple) banana clip speaker cables I have floating around as I won't need them any longer.

Bump. If you are looking at this and biding your time, you'd better move quick. I have a potential local sale in a couple weeks.

note: I could be tempted by a 12" 4 ohm Mesa Walkabout Scout combo or a ten2 AI combo.

Don't. Not if you want either the case or the amp or both to arrive to it's new owner undamaged.

Hmm... duly noted. Four space gator case will included with the amp if buyer wants it and is willing to pay separate shipping.

I've been sitting on this waiting on a local sale that has been stringing along for a while. Tired of waiting on the local buyer so I am bumping this thread.

Willing to take trades on a mesa scout 12" combo or an AI ten2. Also willing to hear offers for MIA fenders 2008 or later in anything other than red.

Significant price drop bump. $675 plus shipping. I need to upgrade my doublebass (getting a lot more work on it these days). I'd like to move this to start the building the funds for a new big bass.

Something I want just popped up. I'll take $575 shipped to CONUS or $500 local. If the item I am looking at moves in the meantime, the price drop disappears.
