Carvin BX500 NOT WORKING

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi guys - I have, for anybody who might possibly be interested, a non-working Carvin BX500 for sale. I was the original purchaser of this head, and used it sparingly for just barely over a year. It worked well when it worked, but it decided to die during the last chorus of the last song of the biggest gig we had ever done to date (the local Hard Rock). One minute it was running fine, the next, nothing. No light, no fan, no sound. Good thing I was DI'ed...

Turns out that this happened just AFTER the thing fell out of its Carvin warranty. Called them, they said I could send it back for repairs, but by that time I had already moved on to a SansAmp Programmable run through a QSC, which I'm VERY happy with.

Anyway, if anybody out there knows how to fix this thing, then hopefully they can get some use out of it. Me, I'm mad at it, and I don't want to look at it any more.

$75 plus shipping, OBO, because I'm really more interested in sending it on its way than making any money. By the way, this includes the rack-mount ears as well.

Please help me get this glaring piece of bad karma out of my house.

Roger that; thanks for the interest, folks!

Mr. Fenderhutz has asked me to confirm whether or not there are any signs of life when the power switch is flipped - I'll have to wait until this evening to confirm that, so stay tuned!

Edit: Came home early to check it out (and 'cause it's Friday, and it's always nice to come home early on Friday....). No lights of any kind when powered on. No fan movement either. Just a soft solenoid click from deep inside somewhere.

One more piece of data: The serial number is 00175XX - I don't know whether anybody can correlate this to a particular revision of the amp - I've been Googling, but apparently not enough....
