Thought I'd try this and see if it lead somewhere. I'm interested in trading my iAmp 200 head plus cash for your iAmp 500 or 800 head. Amount of cash depends on your head and it's condition.
I have a Euphonic Audio iAmp 200 combo, one of the best pieces of equipment I've ever owned for bass. I play primarily jazz on upright bass, but do have some electric bass gigs and it's worked great for both for me. It is in pristine shape as is my reputation on the doublebass side of these forums.
I have started using a smaller combo for small gigs and the EA has become my "large rig". The eq section of the iAMPs are far superior to any other head I've ever used. We've got some audiophiles on the DB side who have mapped out in data that I don't understand that there is a negligible difference in output through a single 4 ohm speaker between the 200watt head and the iAmp 500, which I believe. I've never hit it's headroom max, but I don't play a lot of those type of gigs.
The limitation with this head is that it can only drive down to 4 ohms and only has one speaker output jack. I had to decline a gig recently because it would have required a bigger footprint. I don't want that to happen again.
So, I'm hoping that someone out there has a iAmp 500 or 800 that they use for it's tone tuning possibilities, but don't depend on for it's output and could be enticed into a trade or someone who just needs the cash right now, but like me can't bear the thought of life without an iAMP. I should have bought the 500 watt combo in the first place, but it was to be my "small rig" at the time and I balked at the extra $150. Lesson learned.
PM me if you might be interested and we'll see if we can make it work. I've got impeccable references and won't risk my reputation here with a bad transaction. That said, it's an odd proposal and maybe I'm dreaming.
