EAW Cab/JBL K-140, $250 + Shipping.

Sign in to disble this ad
JBL K-140 in a spec-appropriate EAW VB-125 bass cab. A classic cab/speaker combo here, EAW and JBL are both renown for 2 reasons: Beautiful sound and hardy construction. Able to handle some power, the K-140 is no "Nancy"! 'Plump' lows, full mids and nice touch in the top end. This is one of the ones you hear about here on talkbass, etc.

Read through the ad before perusing the pix (at the linkage) for the most efficient shopping experience...

Here she is, in detail...

Notes...

There's a small tear in the dustcap, shown. I've super-glued it shut, and there's neither rattle nor artifact from it. If you know speakers, you know it's not an issue- only mentioned for the sake of "full disclosure".

Cab shots: Note "Alex Plus" painter's calk around the baffle-hole, against the rim of the front-mounted speaker... this serves as a gasket to keep the speaker tightly seated against the baffle, and avoids rattling loose. 'Tis airtight.

Also note the removable/replaceable port system, an EAW VB-125 feature. I've Epoxy'd 4" pvc in the place of the old paper ports and painted the insides black. This is re-configurable according to the tuning needs of whatever driver you use.

The cab is presentable, sturdy, and a surprisingly light carry. Lightweight recessed 'cup handles' on the sides- like the old Hartkes had- are easy grabs. Throws the thunder like Thor's Hammer. I can provide .pdf/spec files for the both cab and the speaker.

I'm after $250. No trades please, I have a plan here. If you're local, you can make an arrangement to try it out- use my amp or yours.

Many thanks for looking in!

8 ohms;

150w continuous, 300w 'program';

Here's some talk about the K-140 here on TB.

Spec sheet for the cab reads it's 40 lbs. Doesn't say loaded or unloaded, but if so it was probably the CTS driver it came stock with. But to me with the JBL in there I'm certain it's under 50 lbs.
