Why are you letting this beast go? Can you give a brief comparison to its tone vs. say an SVT or Mesa 400+?

I cannot compare as I haven't used either with any real regularity. I'm selling it because it's not getting used.
Thanks.

Bump for an awesome head! I just traded one and I'm kind of kicking myself for it. Light weight and tons of power and headroom!!! Tone is no slouch either.

I own a 400+ and an E300T. They are definitely two different sounding amps. The Mesa is an overall more aggressive and "modern" sounding amp. It also has much more high-end presence than the Eden.

The Eden is much more "old school" flavored - think a Fender Bassman. The amp is overall smoother sounding than the Mesa and has a fatter bottom-end (the Mesa probably has more overall low-end on tap, but IME, a lot of the surplus low-end in the 400+ is not very usable). The highs are more subdued with the Eden. The Eden's probably a warmer sounding amp than the Mesa.

The two amps really have different colors when they break up. The Mesa is much more grindy. The Eden is more wooly. The Mesa seems to have a steeper distortion curve, which may be due to the simple fact that it's a 6L6-loaded amp compared to the Eden's KT88s. The Eden stays relatively clean up through its volume and gain increases and then really seems to spike when you get around 8 or 9.

I know the main question was about tone, but the Eden has a much more straight-forward tone stack, which makes it very plug-and-play. Like any Eden, it sounds pretty good with the knobs set at 12 o'clock.
