Why does the post signify "A", but the model number has a "D" in it? Just curious, maybe missed something.

Original issue models like this didn't have an alpha-postscript as used today by us players.
The B designation came out when they were up-rated to 4 ohm bridgable, the C designation came with the lit up Eden logo.

Why the early ones have a D on the end, I don't know. The binding post speaker terminals, and 8 ohm bridge output indicate this is a first version model.
