F/S Aguilar OBP-3 Bass Preamp

Sign in to disble this ad
*** SOLD ***

For sale is an Aguilar PBP-3 preamp assembly. This one has volume. treble, midrange, bass and switch for midrange frequency selection. This is basically brand new and comes complete with jack and wires for battery. I bought and tried it out in my Stingray 5. Shortly thereafter, I sold the Ray but kept the preamp. They sell new for $150. I will sell this one for $100 shipped. I accept PayPal. PM me with questions. Thanks for looking!

How did that pre change the classic EB tone?

As you are probably aware, the Aguilar pres are known for being fairly aggressive. I believe the stock EB pramps are also aggressive. I liked the sound but I think the center frequencies were a little different. The classic stingray sound was still there but a bit changed. I tried it also with a Seymour Duncan pickup and I really liked the sound. I removed the pre but left the Duncan when I sold the bass to a buddy and he loves it. Says it sounds better than his new Stingray 5 HH. Go figure. The one nice thing is that you have the switch that give you the ability to change the mid frequencey center point. That made more difference than anything I think. I think it would be worthwhile just for that. Not to mention that it is a much simpler design than the stock pre and switch mechanism. I would be willing to sell the black Stingray 5 pick guard if anyone is intersted in it if they want to put it in a Stingray. One other person inquired about that. Hope that helps.

JB
