Bump for a great sounding and powerful head! 1000 Watts @ 4 Ohms mono bridged, Bi-amp (I.E. power amp A for highs and power amp B for lows) down to 2 Ohms per side! That is a lot of cone area. You could put your highs into 16 10 inch subs, and your lows into 4 15's!!! 9 band graphic EQ, MIA Ampeg quality, comparable to a G-K 2001RB or a SVT 4 PRO without the tube pre-amp ... Bottom line this is a great head! Good luck with the sale. Cheers.

Im curious how this sounds compared to the SVT 4. Im looking for a Ampeg backup head and I love the 4 Pro ....but this could be a possibility.

Any info on how it sounds in comparison. How much does this weigh?

I don't know why the OP isn't answering you. Here is the manual. http://www.ampeg.com/pdf/B4R.PDF It says it weighs 43 Lbs, it sounds a lot like the 4PRO, IMHO, if you want a more tubey tone than this provides, pick up a SVP-PRO for like $400 and you have a 4PRO, or a Tech21 VT Bass pedal used for just over $100 and you could have an awesome rig for under the price of a nice used Ampeg SVT810. Cheers.

Hey Kosmic, thanks for that info.
Ill probably pass as there hasnt been any activity here. Though im still interested in playing a B4R.

But If I can indeed find a SVP Pro for a good price I may just do that!

Send the OP a PM, he might have it hooked up to notify his email account. See if he will bite for a little less than $600, the worst he can say is no. I got $600 when I sold my B4R, and don't like my G-K 1001RB-II that is backup to a SVTII (non-pro) as much as the B4R, however the G-K is lighter and is fine for practice with a VT Bass pedal in front of it. Cheers.
