Mesa 400
Fresh JJ 6L6's, 12ax7's, and 12au7 in the tube driver slot.
This lil mod cleans up the tone a lot, and makes the tone controls much more responsive.
Recent service included replacing all the eq sliders; one was noisy and they were cheap so I did 'em all. Cleaned and lubed pots and jacks as well.
She runs great, but I've got sooo much other gear...
$675+ shipping in a Mesa 400+ factory shipping box
You can run your own on-line shippingquotes:
from 65201
22x17x10; ~50lbs packed

The original owners manual I have for it says it should have 6550's in it.
With those, it should put out right at 300, I think I've read with 6L6's it's good for ~175?
It's plenty loud!
I have two mesa diesel 115's (with Em 3015 neo's in them) that it mates very well with.I also have an LDS 2x12+2x6 it works great with.
Generally, I don't like tube amps with any cab with a horn, but ymmv.

I guess not so much, tho unracked it's 45lbs. Not so bad
Ever move an svt, or peavey classic? They're double the weight, b ut not double the horsepower or tone!
I have the original owners manual, tube and service reciepts, and the factory shock rack.
I bought this from Chunk-o-funk if you wanna search backwards for it's history, and what I paid for it-which was a bunch more btw.
I've listed this several times, and then taken it to work, loved it and pulled the listing.
I don't want to go thru that again.
I was gonna keep the Mesa factory rack for another amp cause it's so damn cool, and it matches my two diesel speakers, but I'll throw it in and drop the price to $675+ shipping. The rack has front and rear covers, and is great protection.

$675 does not include the 2 115 cabs

they came direct from mesa, $7 per.
$675 isn't a bad price for just the head.
so, you get $42 worth of sliders, all new power and preamp tubes, serviced, cleaned, and the rack basically for nuttin'.

No; when it came to me it had the wrong fuse in it.
Why?
I dunno.
I replaced the fuse with the proper one, at which point one 6L6 lit up and quit.
Was it a faulty tube from JJ? Or, the cap that regulates/filters power to that tube?
Again, dunno. They often fail together, or, one takes the other with it when it goes...so who knows.
Chicken, or egg?
At any rate, the tube was replaced with another matching JJ, the filter cap was replaced, the other 5 spec'd out.
It was repaired correctly and has been running fine ever since, including tonight.
Not looking for trades; thx

Staff Reviewer; Bass Gear Magazine Moderator | | Join Date: May 2004 Location: Columbia MO | | | Yes, it can run 6550's, the the manual indicates that small base 6550wd should be used I've talked to guys who've run JJ KT88 with the norml sized base. It appears to me there's room to do so, but that might require removing the bear traps, or switching to bigger ones? Dunno...
Subskim; I'd much perfer a deal that doesn't involve shipping to Malaysia. I see that being very hard on the equipment. I told you I'd look into for you, I did not promise I would do it. If I can sell locally where a buyer could actually walk it mout the door and to his car, that would be my perference, but at least shipping inside the US it's in the hands of just one carrier. Imagine the nightmare of trying to work out a damage claim thru as many carriers as it would go thru getting to you? It's not a problem I'd like to try to fix if it happened, and since the shipper-not the reciever-is usually the one to have to do so, I reserve the right to ship where it suits me. I'm sorry if this hurts your feelings. If I can't find a buyer inside the US, we can talk later-if you still want to.
Dennis, since your first in line inside the US, pm coming to you.
