The cab has 1 panel slightly out of square. There are a lot of pin nails, some near the edges. Cosmetically - this ain't a cream puff... built from a mix of 9/16th's Baltic Birch and 5/8th's marine ... it also isn't as light as a 12mm build. It is somewhat over braced and gusseted. The cab is super strong, I would guess the weight at about 10 lb's more than my production cab. So call it 50 to 55 lbs. Not a fly weight, but not that bad either.
NOTE: unless you really like replacing router bits and having shrapnel fly around your garage... the edges should not be rounded. Too much chance of hitting one of those pin nails. It would be easy enough to power sand the edges but as I'm basically asking $30 and shipping for the cabinet shell - that's on your time ... It could also be sanded down and duratex'ed if you really want to spiffy it up. Works fine as is though!
There are a few finish chips that can be easily painted out. The finish is Rustoleum 'hammered on' which is actually a pretty decent coating. Easily touched up if you care
But ... it does sit flat on the floor and it's strong as hell and sounds great. I have 20 or so gig's on it.
The cab has heavy duty rubber feet on one side and the bottom.
Currently setup as a biamp cab off a single 4 wire speakon. Top mount recessed handle.
Driver compliment is 3012LF and B&C MD638. Clear as a bell and thunderous with my ancient WT800A.
A couple of options
1. My preferred option Cab and mid driver for $120 and shipping - this is not a cheap driver and it has very low hours. You get the 3012LF from Beach for $170.
2. Cab, bass & mid driver $310 and shipping.
3. I build and install a CBG x-over with a pad on the mid driver - this driver is more efficient than the Alpha and will handle a pair of 3012Lf's w/o batting an eye... Cost of parts plus $15 for the build time.
I've come to the realization that just 1 12.6 cab is all I'll ever need. I'm going to build another 12 sub for my PA so I would really prefer to hang onto the already broken in 3012LF that I have... and I gotta start funding that Barker Brio ...
Just in case anyone missed my comments inthe fEarful megathread. BiAmped is the way to go with these cabs for uber performance. My 'production build' 12.6 has a switch for biamp or passive. That let's me go small with a micro head or larger with the WT800 in a rack. The biamped rig is killer. The passive rig is only fabulous ;~) Pic's later

I used both 12.6 cab's on 7/3 and it was so overkill for me ... and thought's of Brio just won't leave me alone ...

Best of luck on the sale. I'm pretty sure I've heard this one and like all the other fearful cabs Mal and Charlie have made, it rocks.
Bump for one hell of a good guy who will treat you right. |

| | Endorsing Curmudgeon: Mal's Kitchen Cruelties ... | | Join Date: Jun 2002 Location: Columbia River Gorge | | | Well it's the cost of the crossover and the switch and couple of hours in time. Figure around $100 if I do the work. The crossover is about $60 in parts (IIRC), the switch is $12 IIRC. There are some 'consumables', heavy duty hookup wire, quick connects, turrets, luan and plywood for mounting the stuff and recessing the switch into the cab, hot glue, etc...
My bench rate is $15/hour. The work itself isn't difficult it is a little time consuming though. A couple of hours. I would be happy to assist technically if you wanted to do the work on your own.
I find this setup to be really practical as it allows me flexibility in what I have to carry from venue to venue.
