Up for grabs is Polytone 101 # 13927 from the mid-70's. These are remarkable bass amps and are quite rare. This amp comes with the original cover, manual and schematics for both the power amp and the preamp! These solid-state amps are unusual in that they have a "room eq" swith on the back to cut down the possibility of feedback when used with amplified acoustic instruments. They also have separate preamp outs on the back for high and low frequencies! Pretty wild for the 70's. Each channel also has a "bright-normal-dark" switch that shifts the eq response of the channel. Also provided for each channel are high and low gain inputs, as well as volume, treble and bass controls for each channel. It has a 15" speaker.
I fell in love with the sound of these about five years ago, had to have one, somehow found this one available for purchase and scooped it up. I liked it so much that I kept this even when I sold my two Ampeg B-15's! This has been used ONLY in the studio and has not been toured. I used it only for recording. The overall condition of this amp is very good; remarkable for an amp that's 30+ years old.
The amp weighs about 50 lbs. and comes with casters. The cabinet measures 22 x 24 x 12. As this is a heavy item, I expect that shipping will run in the neighborhood of $100 to the domestic U.S. Please email me for more photos. |
