Selling a late '80s Marshall IBS series 3540 head in excellent condition. I picked this up locally in a package deal with the matching 4x10" cab, which I would like to keep. The amp is 200w per channel into a 4 ohm load and can do biamp or full range. It has a very good 5 band EQ plus a mid shift "contour" control, and a foot switchable boost function with variable level. The amp is clean with minor scratchiness on the pots and is very loud. It has a very British sound, I'd say close to a Trace type tone. The EQ is pretty aggressive and it can get overdriven if pushed. It's not from the later DBS series but I'd say it shares some of the same tonality. I was able to get some decent Muse sounds out of it with a Big Muff, and it would do pretty well for a lot of other aggressive music. It really needs two 4 ohm cabs to shine, much like the old SVT-400T and other lead sleds of this era.
It's heavy and very well built. It can be rack mounted (3U) and comes in a nice Marshall tolex head shell. The front plastic overlay is wavy at the edges but not torn.
Asking $225 plus split shipping in the US. I will ship internationally but buyer pays for it. This is factory set to run at 120v but can be wired for 240v. PayPal OK, I would consider trades or partial trades.
Trade for:
15" speakers (Eminence Delta15A or equivalent)
Line 6 M5
Danelectro Longhorn (Korean RI or recent "Dead On" preferred, + cash from me)
I'm flexible on trade offers - if you've got something you don't need, run it by me.

Insides are super-clean. Note the gigantic toroidal power transformer, lots of headroom on this amp.
