(For those who don't know, this is the amp that inspired the current Thunderfunk heads. Jaco used this amp late in his career.)
Ok, so I just got this fine specimen from Quadzilla. I have no business owning a 400 watt amp right now. I'm not gigging and I have no band. It just seemed sexy in a retro vintage way, and I've always wanted to try the Thunderfunk thing, so I grabbed it.
I'm glad I did, since it was fun to try, but I just don't need it. I love the tone. Probably the warmest SS head I've heard. And the EQ options are incredible. The single "Tone Balance" knob is very useful, as you can quickly dial it up or down to adjust the balance of lows & highs. Another cool feature is the bi-amping capability with an adjustable crossover. It also has a tweakable limiter, headphone out, XLR out, line out, and 2 speaker outs. 400 watts at 4ohms.
I took the top off to peek inside, and man, this thing is built SOLID. This unit is probably about 20 years old, but it was built right. I would trust this amp over 90% of the new stuff produced today.
It's about 20 pounds. So it's still decently portable. Cosmetically it's in good shape with a few minor scuffs here and there.
Don't forget the added bonus of having an amp with the name AMP on the front.
"Hey, what kind of amp is that?" "It's an AMP." "Yeah I know, but what kind??"
