Arrow FS: Ampeg B3-28 combo project amp... southern NY

Sign in to disble this ad
Hello all,

For sale is an Ampeg B3-28 combo (150W B3 head, 2x8" 8ohm drivers, tweeter, 4ohm total load, tiltback) with blown power transistors. I bought this Ampeg B3-28 a few months ago in this condition with intentions of either swapping in new transistors and bringing it back to life, finding a B3 head and swapping in the power section 'cause the rest of the head is in such nice condition (not too easy to find), or doing some kind of Frankenswap. I determined that the SVT-150H, 200H, and 350H heads should fit right into the cabinet considering they don't have any tubes or transformers that extend below the amp chassis.

Alas, the amp has sat for months and priorities have shifted a bit, so I offer it up for sale to anyone interested in making the most of an otherwise very nice little combo. It's a hair under 60lbs so I'm not very interested in shipping it and would prefer a transaction in the southern NY area. It's condition is hopefully illustrated in the picture; I can take shots of the innards and blown power section for anyone interested and considering a repair to the existing guts.

I'm asking $80 and will consider any reasonable offer. I live a few minutes from exit 16 on the NYS Thruway and work during the week in Poughkeepsie so it's possible to meet up there or somewhere in between. Shoot me a PM for more information. Thanks.

bump. still have this and made no real progress on fixing it except de-soldering the power transistors.
