***Back from Europe, reviving this thread. Need to sell, I have to move soon, ALL REASONABLE OFFERS CONSIDERED. Never hurts to ask :-)
MTI-Era Ampeg SVT - Quick story: Ampeg production moved to Japan for a short period (just a few years) in the early 80's under the ownership of MTI. They have this characteristic look, the black-and-white thing. MTI wanted to return the SVT to as close as possible to the original design, but made small updates to the tube compliment to account for the lack of tube availability (12ax7, etc... look it up). According to my amp tech, a real veteran, these were some of the most reliable SVT's to be manufactured (no surprise, Japanese craftsmanship is rarely less than superb).
Mine is in excellent condition, recently checked out by the tech with a clean bill of health. Sounds killer, obviously. I prefer it hands down to my recently owned SVT-CL and SVT-VR, no comparison. If I had any use at all for this bad boy it wouldn't be going anywhere...
A little bit of tolex wear, see the pictures, it's from many moons ago. It is in a custom-built ATA case from Kangaroo Case in Dallas, TX (some of the best cases around). Pretty heavy, but very well protected for any touring you want to throw at it, and locking casters so you never have to take the amp out of the case when you use it.
If you want to go SVT, this thing is worth your money more so than anything Ampeg has manufactured in recent years. These are not terribly common and this one is in really great condition.
I'm looking for
$1500 $1400 OBO in the ATA-case
, prefer local middle-East-Coast-area deal... Open to shipping, but it's heavy.
