FS: Demeter HB-600

For sale is my Demeter HB-600. It's pretty much in new condition. Does not include original box but will be well packaged. 12AX7 Tube has been upgraded to a TungSol gold pin.

This is basically an HBP-1 preamp (no Jensen transformer) with a 600W Mosfet Power amp attached to it in a nice 2 rack space box that weighs in around 26 pounds. All the in's and out's are the same as the HBP-1. Amplifier outputs are 1/4" and 5-way binding posts (banana). I just added a Speakon to my Ashdown ABM 500 and bought the parts to do the same mod on the Demeter. I've had the cover off of it and there is a lot of room to do it "right". Rack not included.

$725 shipped CONUS. No trades. Paypal preferred.

Couple of things:

1. Bump for more pictures!
2. Please do not PM me asking me what the lowest I will accept is. If you do the price goes up $25 . Otherwise I'm standing firm at $725. This is a very rare amp and I do not need to sell it; and with that out of the way... I'd like to sell it but I'm not interested in taking a bath on it.
3. Also includes a power cord and a nice Planet Wave 12-2 Speakon to Banana cable.
4. Will ship double boxed.

Thanks!!!

How does the demeter sound in comparison to, say, a Mesa Big Block 750...or a M9 Carbine (if you are familiar with either of these amps, that is)?

Also, how would you compare it volume-wise to those amps.

*I've played a Warwick Double $$/Demeter HBP-1 Preamp through a 300-watt all-tube Demeter Monoblock poweramp down at Bass Central and, I have to say, that was the best bass tone I think I've ever heard in person!

....but then, I played the same set-up through some random QSC Poweramp they let me "test-drive" and it just lost it for me.

I can't speak to the Mesa subject as I don't have any experience with that product line. The other two setups I have are a Eden Navigator with a Peavey IPR 1600 amp and a Ashdown ABM500. I've a/b tested the Demeter with Ashdown extensively and the Demeter is WAY more punchy and articulate across the board. The Eden rig is powered by a Peavey so consider that. However it can sound close to as good as the Demeter just not the punch the Demeter has. The Ashdown in it's cleanest form does not sound even similar to the HB600 not bad just different.

Volume wise I've not had any issues but I'm not in any loud settings that often. However if I was I'd probably take the Demeter. On two separate occasions prior to the HB600 I had an HBP-1 and an QSC Powerlight amp and then the original setup was an HBP-1 and a Yamaha amp (which was huge watts). The demeter/yamaha rig was used with a SWR Goliath SR and everybody thought it sounded like a million bucks and told me so every time it was in public. My opinion is that that HB600 sounds leagues better than either of those pre/power amp setups. I will say it is probably not as loud but I am also using only 2x Bergantino AE112 these days so it's really not a fair comparison. I wish I still had the SWR to hear it with actually as that is a great sounding and greatly under loved 6x10. I'd love to hear Demeter's 300w tube amp but man they are big bucks!

Hope that helps.
